Emerging Out of My Box!



Today was a very busy day for me as I finished packing up the last few boxes—12 more days until I leave for New York City! In numerology, 12 either represents a messenger or swift change! Today, the messenger happened to be my dear aunt. I was telling her about how most of my things have been in boxes for over a year. A lot of my work wasn’t packing boxes with things from around the house, rather it was transferring things from old boxes to new boxes! She said, “Well, honey all of you has been in a box that whole time!”

I never thought of it that way, but I’m glad that my aunt made her comment. Almost all of the things that I love have been in boxes because I never really got settled into the place I live. I kept saying that I would purchase a book shelf, and then I’d be able to unpack my books. But, the area where I live isn’t finished—once the drywall is up, I’d get that bookshelf. Before I knew it, a year had passed and none of this got done!

My room is fairly decorated with things that make me feel at home, but often when I want to read one of my books or to paint, I’ve found myself digging in some box to find my treasure. So, what now? Well, no more living in a box for me! When I reach NYC, I will be out of my boxes within the first month. I will not leave pieces of me in a box, on a shelf, in a storage unit…etc.

Is all or some of you in a box? Where? Why? I invite you to come out of your boxes, out of your closets, off the shelves, out of the garages and storage units. What you don’t need, give away. What you love, keep close. Just get out of that box!
