Instinct or Intuition?

We are spiritual beings expressing ourselves in human form for the sake of self-awareness. For the soul to evolve, it must become wiser by overcoming challenges. We have two minds operating at all times—the intuitive mind and the instinctive mind. Distinguishing between the two is crucial to living a purposed life, and attaining true success.

Instinctive Mind

This mind is the one that comes with human form—it’s motivated by fear, and is designed to promote our physical survival. Fear is what keeps us from knowingly placing ourselves in harm’s way. We make decisions to protect ourselves because we fear the consequences of not doing so. In this capacity, fear is good. However, it becomes a problem when we allow fear to motivate us beyond survival issues. For example, fear should not be a factor in decisions regarding a move, career, or relationship because these issues have nothing to do with physical survival. When we notice fear getting in the way of our decision making, we must understand that it is sourced in the instinctive mine—our lower human nature.

Intuitive Mind

This mind is often referred to as intuition, inner bell, Christ-mind, or Higher Self. It is the mind that exists as pure Spirit—outside of our human form. It contains the memories, wisdom, and intuition gained from all of our past lives. This is the collective mind of humanity that contains divine wisdom—guidance that we all have access to. The intuitive mind is sourced in love—the essence of all creation. Decisions about how to live your life should always begin in the intuitive mind. The instinctive mind of the lower human nature will chip in to protect the flesh and promote survival, but you must distinguish it from the voice of Spirit. The intuitive mind is where wisdom is stored, and will guide us through decisions that we make every day. It communicates in many ways: dreams, visions, messengers, intuition, emotions, music, and many more ways.

How to Follow Your Intuition

To be guided by intuition is a wonderful way to live fulfilled. But how do you know whether it’s your intuition speaking to you or just your basic human instinct? The answer is simple—are you acting in love or fear? If you are making a decision based on fear—that’s your instinctive mind talking. Love overcomes all and it is certain—never confusing or distorted. Sometimes feelings can get in the way of our ability to listen clearly to ourselves. So, practice expressing your feelings every day—even if you don’t feel emotional. Write, talk, sing, dance, paint, draw, collage—use some form of language to express your feelings so they don’t get trapped in your head and cloud your judgment.

Mental clarity will enable you to recognize the voice of your intuitive mind, and make sound decisions that will bring you much happiness, and more love!

Love & Light,

Rainfaerie
