So Glad I 'Overslept'!

Only 9 days left until my big move to NYC!!! This morning, I woke up later than planned—I overslept! “Oh no,” I thought. I jumped out of bed and realized that it was after 10:40AM, and there was no way I was going to make it to Center for Spiritual Living—a place I enjoy attending weekly inspirational gatherings. So I quickly began thinking about what to do. “Aha! I’ll catch the livestream on the internet,” I said to myself. I bounced up the stairs to make myself a fresh cup o’ joe so I could snuggle up and catch the service online. As soon as it went live, I rejoiced inside!.....But then, the internet connection started slowing to the point where I couldn’t even make out what was being said. By this time I was getting frustrated…what to do, what to do? Then I realized that chasing after this ‘fantasy’ (it clearly wasn’t happening, okay?) was distracting me from experiencing the joy that comes fresh with each morning. So I laughed at myself, and things got better!

The lesson I learned today was to be present. Embrace the present moment and give thanks for it. I was so focused on what I ‘missed out on’ that I almost missed out on my joy! I slept in (not overslept) because I was tired, and my body apparently required the extra rest. I gave myself permission to stay home and embrace the moment.

After journaling, I was online and happened to come across some very empowering information that is crucial to my success in the dream I’m pursuing. I realized that had I not been home at that time, I wouldn’t have gotten these powerful teachings. I was grateful for that time to nurture my body, soul, and intellect. It was then that I knew, I stayed home on purpose!

So, that’s why I’m glad that I ‘overslept.’ The next time you oversleep or miss some appointment that you were really looking forward to, consider what else is happening in your space. Sometimes we think that our plans are what’s best for us, but the universe shifts things around to teach us a lesson—to bless us on our journey. So, don’t beat yourself up if this happens to you. Be present and give thanks for the moment because you may be in for a reward!

Love & Light,
Rainfaerie
