It's 2012 and I'm Doing Things My Way!

Today's the first day of a new, adventurous year and I'm on top of the world! Over the past several days, I've had the opportunity to reflect upon 2011 and assess how things went for me. It seems like 2011 happened so fast, but that's how it is when you're on the hustle - you get busy and time flies. Once things calmed down a bit, I was able to stop, turn around, and see how far I've come. I am definitely satisfied with last year's progess because I have all that I need to get some big things accomplished this year. I feel like 2011 was the year of productivity increase in my household because everyone made big moves, major moves. I could go on all day about that, but my time to step off the soapbox approaches so I'll close by sharing a few things I learned in 2011...

First, we all possess several talents, gifts, and skills which can be used to our advantage so we should work our hustles! I'm good at so many things that had been put on 'the shelf' for years to focus on school and work. In 2011, I decided to rediscover myself by exploring the mystery all of my creative abilities and skills in one way or another, and it has enriched my life so much, and my consciouness has been elevated to a higher level!

Second, I learned how to make impossible things happen - just do it! I realized that there are huge things I aspire to do but at times it seems that I lack the resources so see them actualized. But the saying is true, where there's a will, there's a way. What I take from this verse is that if there isn't a way, make one! We are masters at the art of creation, so if there isn't a road paved for you to do something, just pave one yourself - who says you can't?

Third, I've learned the importance of pampering, rewarding, and nurturing Self. Yes. I'm a firm beliver in selfish ethics and here's why: it's impossible to love yourself if you're always putting others first. Taking time out to serve your own needs is just as important as serving the needs of others, which is why I don't support altruism. Celebrate your victories becuase if you're not willing to cheer on your own squad, why should anyone else? It isn't even news that we are our own worst critics, we can be so hard on ourselves and for not good reason that we forget how great and beautiful we all are. You deserve the finest in life, so only give yourself the best and to hell with the rest!

Lastly, I've learned the importance of living by your own rules! I believe in existing in harmony with others, and promoting positivity, but not conformity. Conformity is a disease that plagues a person living by someone else rules - cure it by deciding to just say no from now on. What other people think of you matters only to an extent so don't give your attention to negative thoughts and possibilities. I love, I give, and I share with others, but I do things my way, and I'm happier because of it!

Happy New Year!

Rainfaerie
